Precision Point Placement

This feature makes it easy to insert a point on an edge exactly where you want it.

To precisely place a point on an edge:

  1. Note the distance from where you want to put the point, to the nearest end of the edge.

    For example, assume you have an edge that is 10cm, and you want to insert a point exactly 4cm from the right end of the edge.

  2. On the Main toolbar, click Select.

  3. On the Horizontal contextual menu, ensure Pieces is selected.

  4. In the 2D window, click the edge on which you want to place the point.

  5. On the Main toolbar, click Insert.

  6. On the Horizontal contextual menu, click Click the drop-down, then Point.

  7. In the 2D window, hover over the edge, then type the distance in the box that is displayed. In this example, type 4.

  8. Press Enter. The point is inserted.

Alternatively, you can do the following:

  1. On the Main toolbar, click Select.

  2. On the Horizontal contextual menu, ensure Pieces is selected.

  3. On the Main toolbar, click Insert.

  4. On the Horizontal contextual menu, click Click the drop-down, then Point.

  5. In the 2D window, click on the edge approximately where you want to put the point. A box is displayed showing the exact measurement of the point from the nearest end.

  6. Type in the distance you want the point to be from the nearest end, then press Enter. The point is precisely placed.
