Stitching the Front and Back Together

This section shows how to stitch the front and back pieces together in the 3D window. This requires you to navigate around the 3D window. If you are not already familiar with the 3D navigation tools, refer to Navigating and Working in the 3D Window.

For information about stitching in the 2D window, refer to Stitching in the 2D Window.

To stitch the pieces:

  1. On the Main toolbar, click Stitch.

    Stitch

  2. Go to the Context view.

    Context view

  3. Ensure Single stitch is selected.

The following image shows the required stitches: the A edges are stitched to one another, the B edges are stitched to one another, and so on.

  4. Go to the 3D window.

    3D window

  5. On the front piece, click one of the vertical edges: A or B.

Click either the left or right edge

  6. On the back piece, click the matching vertical edge. For example, if you clicked edge A on the front piece, click edge A on the back piece.

    Click the matching edge

    The stitches are displayed.

VStitcher stitches all the A and B edges because these edges have symmetry. This means that when you do an action on one edge, VStitcher automatically does the same action to the other symmetrical edge.

For example, in piece 1 (back) the two edges shown highlighted in the following illustration have symmetry.

    Edges shown have symmetry

VStitcher recognizes this, and when one edge is stitched, VStitcher automatically creates the matching stitching for the other edge.

  7. On the front piece, click one of the top (shoulder) edges, C or D.

  8. On the back piece, click the matching top (shoulder) edge. For example, if you clicked edge C on the front piece, click edge C on the back piece.

    Click the matching edge

VStitcher stitches all sides C and D together (again, this is because the edges have symmetry) and the stitches are displayed.

The front and back pieces are now stitched together.

The following image shows the stitching of the front and back pieces.

  9. Save the file: on the Main toolbar, click Save.

Continue Once you have stitched the front and back together, continue with Stitching the Sleeves to the Body.
