Substance Presets

2020 May Edition and newer

Substance presets allow you to apply effects to artwork. For information about how to view and edit artwork properties, refer to Editing Artwork Properties.

The available Substance presets are described in the following table. When you select a preset, the available properties are displayed.

PresetDescription of Effect

Emboss

Emboss effect that makes it look like the fabric is being pushed outwards by the artwork’s graphical area. When selected, the artwork turns completely transparent with the fabric visible from below.

  • Roundness - the smaller the property, the sharper the top edges of the effect

  • Height - the height the artwork reaches measured upwards from the fabric base

Note: Height is only visible in a ray trace render.

Embroidery

Embroidery effect.

  • Density - density of the embroidery effect

  • Outline Width - width of the thread on the outline of the artwork

  • Thread Thickness - thickness of the thread

  • Height - the height the artwork reaches measured upwards from the fabric base

  • Fill Texture - if enabled, displays a thread effect in the fill area of the artwork

    • Outline Texture Color - color of the outline thread. Click the thumbnail to edit the color

Glitter Print

  • Flake Size - size of the glitter flakes

  • Randomness - the higher the number, the greater the random distribution of the glitter flakes

Note: A Randomness of 0 creates a grid arrangement

High Density Print

  • Roundness - the higher the number, the more round the effect

  • Roughness - the higher the number, the less shiny the artwork

  • Height - the height the artwork reaches measured upwards from the fabric base

Puff Print

  • Perforation Density - the higher the number, the greater the density of the perforations

  • Perforation Size - size of the perforations

  • Height- the height the artwork reaches measured upwards from the fabric base

Vintage Print

Vintage (aged) print effect

  • Scratch - if selected, adds scratches effect on the artwork surface

    • Scratch Amount - defines the intensity of the scratches

  • Peeling - if selected, adds a peeling effect on the artwork surface

    • Peeling Amount - defines the intensity of the peeling

  • Scrape - if selected, adds scrape effect on the artwork surface

    • Scrape Amount - defines the intensity of the scrapes

You may select one or more of the vintage print effect types.

The higher the number for an Amount property, the greater the number of scratches, peeling, or scrapes.

Importing Custom Substance Presets

2020 May Edition (2020.2.1) and newer

Lotta now supports the import of your own custom created Substance presets.

To import a custom preset:

  1. If the Materials tab is not already open, on the Resources tabs, click Materials.

  2. If not already open, click the Garment tab.

  3. Go to the Artwork section and click any artwork.

  4. Go to the Context view, in Artwork Execution, and click Click the drop-down. A menu is displayed of available presets.

  5. Click Import Substance. A file explorer window is displayed.

  6. Navigate to the SBSAR file you want to import and select it.

  7. In File name, type in the name you want to display as the name of the preset.

    You cannot use a name that is identical to any inbuilt preset.
  8. Click Open. The preset is imported.

  9. In Artwork Execution, click Click the drop-down and the preset should display as being available to select.
