Pinch

Use this tool to push or pull the selected point or area by dragging. If selected, you may use Regular or Focused Effect.

Note:

• The size of the point selected matches the specified radius.

• This tool affects a point or area determined by the radius. For a freehand selection, use the Brush tool.

Brush

Use this tool to paint an area by dragging. If selected, you may use Regular or Focused Effect.

Note:

• The size of the brush point matches the specified radius.

• This tool affects the area you paint over. For a more focused selection, use the Pinch tool.

Tip: Press Ctrl (Mac: Command) and click to apply the brush to a complete pattern piece.

Move

Use this tool to move a selected pattern piece (or pieces) without:

• Triggering further simulation.

• Any collisions with the avatar or other pieces.

To select multiple pieces, press Shift while clicking the pieces you want. To select the garment, press Ctrl+A (Mac: Command+A).

Note:

• With the 3D gizmo disabled, you can move (by dragging) the selected piece or pieces freely in the 3D window.

• With the 3D gizmo enabled, you can move the selected piece or pieces in the 3D window only by using the gizmo.

• Using the Move tool with internal elements (lines, artwork, and so on) is not supported.

Erase

Displays if Brush is selected.

Use this tool to erase previously applied 3D styling.

Note: The size of the erase point matches the specified radius.

Radius

Determines the area each tool affects. You can use the slider or type in a value.

Effect

• If Regular is selected, when you use the pinch or brush tool on a part of the garment, simulation is triggered for the complete garment.

• If Focused is selected, when you use the pinch or brush tool, simulation is triggered only for the area affected by that tool and the immediately surrounding parts of the garment.

Symmetrical Styling

Applies styling changes made to one side of the 3D garment to the corresponding piece on the other side, to simulate symmetry. For example, a change made to the left sleeve will automatically be applied to the right sleeve. In the image that follows, symmetrical styling is applied to a hoodie.

This option allows easily creating a symmetrical look when showcasing garments. The symmetry is applied while using the ​Pinch ​​or ​Brush ​​tool and also during dressing.

​​Symmetrical Styling​​ is only available for 3D geometries of simulated pieces that include piece symmetry or inner symmetry with the same grid size.

To apply Symmetrical Styling:

1. Under ​Pinch ​​or ​Brush​​, select the ​Symmetrical Styling​​ checkbox.

2. ​Select the ​Strength ​​to use when styling:
   • ​​​Weak ​​- applies a more natural level of styling
   • ​​​Strong ​​- applies a more sculptured level of styling

Hold

The affected area does not move. Areas with this property are colored blue.

Flatten

The affected area is smoothed out (ironed). Areas with this property are colored orange.

Retouch

The affected area is stretched or shrunk according to the property values. Areas with this property are colored magenta.

• To shrink the area, drag the slider to the left, or type in a value less than 100.

  

• To stretch the area, drag the slider to the right, or type in a value greater than 100.

• By default, the retouch property is applied the same way to the width and length. To set separate properties for Width and Length, click . Width and Length properties are displayed separately.

  

  Note: The width and length follow the grain line.

• To see which direction width goes in, either click the blue circle on the Width slider or click inside the Width number field. A red line is displayed showing the direction of the width.

  

• To see which direction length goes in, either click the blue circle on the Length slider or click inside the Length number field. A blue line is displayed showing the direction of the length.

  

Save Snapshot

1. Click to save a snapshot. The Choose Snapshot Name dialog box is displayed.
2. Type a name for the snapshot and click OK. The snapshot is saved.

Fast Mode

Select to use fast mode when dressing the avatar. Fast mode uses a default grid of 1, and is useful for speeding up simulation of more complex garments. Fast mode was previously known as draft mode.

Freeze Pose

Select to freeze the avatar’s pose. For example, you can use this to prevent a collision between the avatar’s arms and the garment.

Auto Lock

While selected, you can add a new piece to the garment, and if you arrange the new piece on the avatar, when you click Dress the 3D simulation works on the new piece only, leaving the existing garment dressed on the avatar.

Gravity

Clear to have the 3D simulation ignore the effects of gravity. For example, you can use this if you want to prevent the garment or part of it from falling off the avatar.

3D Gizmo

Select to enable the 3D gizmo. The 3D gizmo is displayed when you make adjustments in the 3D window, giving you more flexibility in the direction of these adjustments. For more information, refer to 3D Gizmo.

Use in 3D

Select to use the layer in the 3D simulation.

Resets the 3D simulation, with the selected layer displaying in prepare mode in the 3D window.

Lock

Select to lock the layer. Future 3D styling changes do not affect the layer.

Visible

Select to make the layer visible in the 3D simulation.

Stitches

Select to make the stitching effective in the 3D simulation.

Collision Type

Affects how the 3D simulation treats collisions between the edges of the same piece. For example, pieces collars and cuffs. Select Default or the appropriate value from the list.

Details(Grid)

The invisible underlying grid applied to the resolution of fabric display in 3D simulation. A value of 1 means a grid of 1 cm x 1 cm.

Note: The lower the scale, the slower the 3D simulation.
