There are two ways to integrate with Jeanologia:
Lotta 2021.2 introduces a new Jeanologia workflow focused on using wash libraries provided by Jeanologia. The original Jeanologia workflow is still available.
To use this workflow, you must have already installed the Jeanologia service and be able to access it.
Note
Important: This integration is only available for PC users.

Importing a Jeanologia File
To use a Jeanologia Laser Finish file from Jeanologia:
-
Ensure you have your garment file open in Lotta.
-
On the Main menu, click File then Import. A file explorer window is displayed.
Alternatively, if not already open, click the Materials tab then the Garment tab. In the Trims section, click then Add Piece Assignable Trim. Or, in the Artwork section, click then Add Artwork.
-
At the bottom right of the file explorer window, click the drop-down to display the file types available to import.
-
Click Jeanologia Laser Finish (*.jean;*.jean5;*.ujean).
-
Browse to where the file is located and click Open.
-
If the Jeanologia login dialog box is displayed, enter your Jeanologia eDesigner credentials: User ID and Password, then press Login.
-
The artworks in the file (there may be more than one) are imported into your garment file and displayed in the Resources tabs. (Under Materials > Garment.)
Using a Jeanologia File
Once you have imported a Jeanologia file, the constituent artworks are displayed in the Artwork section of the Resources tabs. (Under Materials > Garment.)
In general, you can assign these artwork materials in the same way as other artwork materials. However, note the following about their use:
-
In the Image Editor, these abilities are disabled:
-
Edit the image in an external editor.
-
Replace the image.
-
-
Adding, editing, and replacing images for channels other than diffuse is supported; note however that these edits are not included in any export of the Jeanologia file.
-
On the Resources tabs, you may drag the artwork only to Piece Assignable Trims.
-
When the artwork is selected, in the Context view, Copy to Edge Assignable is disabled.
Note
The preceding notes also apply to a Jeanologia file imported from a .bw file or any clone of a Jeanologia file.
-
Assigning the artwork to a pattern piece triggers certain ruler effects. For more information, refer to Ruler Effects.
Exporting a Jeanologia File
When exporting a Jeanologia file, only the .jean format is used.
The export feature for a Jeanologia file includes all files where the artwork is in use and the Laser Finish checkbox is selected. The Laser Finish checkbox is automatically selected (but is not displayed) for all Jeanologia files that you import. If using the earlier Jeanologia integration workflow, you must manually select the checkbox. For more information, refer to Adding the Laser Finish.
To export a Jeanologia file:
-
Ensure you have your garment file open in Lotta.
-
On the Main menu, click File then Export. A file explorer window is displayed.
-
At Save as type, click the drop-down to display the file types available to export.
-
Click Jeanologia Laser Finish (*.jean).
-
At File name, type in a name for the file.
-
Go to where you want to export the file and click Save.
-
If the Jeanologia login dialog box is displayed, enter your Jeanologia eDesigner credentials: User ID and Password, then press Login.
All artworks in use with the Laser Finish selected are exported.
Note
-
You do not need to dress the garment to export the .jean file.
-
Only the front side of the artwork and the diffuse channel is exported. If you added other channels, these are not exported.
-
The export is based on the currently active colorway.
-
If there are multiple sizes in use, each is exported as a separate .jean file.
-
All instances in use are exported. For example, if the artwork is assigned twice, two instances are exported.
Note
-
This feature is an optional extra. You must have:
-
Browzwear's Laser Finish plugin, requiring an Open Platform and a Tech Pack license. For information, contact sales@browzwear.com.
-
The Digital Wash application supplied by Jeanologia. For information, contact Jeanologia.
-
If this feature is enabled, within Lotta, you can specify a laser finish for artwork and 2D assignable trim materials, which can then be implemented using Jeanologia equipment.
Prerequisite
To enable this feature, you must ensure your Tech Pack preferences are setup to connect to the Digital Wash processor. To connect to the processor:
-
Note where on your computer the Digital Wash application is installed.
-
Open the Preferences dialog box and click the Tech Pack tab. (For more information, refer to Preferences.)
-
At Processor, click Browse. A file explorer window is opened.
-
Navigate to the location of the Digital Wash application and select it.
-
Click Open. The path to the application is added to your preferences.
-
On the Preferences dialog box, click OK.
Laser Finish Effects
If this laser finish is specified:
-
The reference image contains all the textures for ease of reference.
-
The relevant artwork/trim is so specified in the output.json file.
-
Placement rulers are affected. For more information, refer to Ruler Effects.
-
Jeanologia imports the artwork or trim with laser finish and uses the transformation data in the Browzwear output.json file and a reference image.
Once material has been assigned Laser Finish, there are the following effects:
-
The material’s rulers are snapped to the center of the material’s bounding box.
-
You can move rulers that are snapped to the edges of the piece, but those that are snapped to the center of the bounding box are locked.
Note
-
You must snap the position rulers to a specific place on the edge as a point of reference for the plugin.
-
For best results, it is recommended that you set the ruler to have the same relative location for reference points on the left side and right side for both front and back views. For example, if you set the reference point to the top corner of the right hand leg pattern piece, do the same on the left hand leg pattern piece.
-
-
If you clear Laser Finish, the rulers are unlocked.
-
This effect is supported in Design in Sizes - you can grade your laser finish.
-
If you share the garment with a user without the integration, locked rulers remain locked. (A user without the integration is unable to select or clear Laser Finish.)
The following steps, when expanded, show an example of ruler effects.
Step 1
Artwork assigned. Laser Finish not applied.
Step 2
Laser Finish applied. Rulers all snapped to center.
Step 3
You manually snap the side of the edges to create a point of reference.
