Adding Trim to a File

You can add to the trims available for use in your garment, by adding trim objects to the garment file.

Adding Piece Assignable Trim to a File

To add piece assignable trim to a file, do one of the following:

Import trim	If the Materials tab is not already open, on the Resources tabs, click Materials. If not already open, click the Garment tab. Go to the Trims section. In the Trims section, click . A menu is displayed. Click Add Piece Assignable Trim. A file explorer window is displayed. Navigate to the location of the trim file, and select it. Note You can add trim from an existing garment, by selecting the relevant BW or VSGX file. You can alternatively add trim by selecting the trim file. Click Open. If you selected a BW or VSGX file, a dialog box is displayed with the available materials. Select the trim. Click OK. The trim is added to the Trims section. If you selected a 3D trim object file, the Customize 3D Object dialog box is displayed. Adjust the Vertical and Facing settings until the view is set as the face of the object. Click OK. The trim is added to the Trims section. If you selected a non 3D trim object file, the trim is added to the Trims section.
Add button	If the Materials tab is not already open, on the Resources tabs, click Materials. If not already open, click the Garment tab. Go to the Trims section. In the Trims section, click . A menu is displayed. Click New Button. A button is added to Piece Assignable.
Clone piece assignable trim	If the Materials tab is not already open, on the Resources tabs, click Materials. If not already open, click the Garment tab. Go to the Trims section. In Piece Assignable, hover over the trim you want to clone, and click . A menu is displayed. Click Clone Trim. A copy of the trim is added to Piece Assignable. Note: If using large thumbnails, Clone Trim displays instead as a separate icon when you hover over the trim.
Copy edge assignable trim	If the Materials tab is not already open, on the Resources tabs, click Materials. If not already open, click the Garment tab. Go to the Trims section. In Edge Assignable, click the trim you want to use. Go to the Context view, and click Piece Assignable. A copy of the trim is added to Piece Assignable.
Drag edge assignable trim	If the Materials tab is not already open, on the Resources tabs, click Materials. If not already open, click the Garment tab. Go to Trims, in the Edge Assignable section. Drag the trim to Piece Assignable.

Adding Edge Assignable Trim to a File

To add edge assignable trim to a file, do one of the following:

Clone edge assignable trim	If the Materials tab is not already open, on the Resources tabs, click Materials. If not already open, click the Garment tab. Go to the Trims section. In Edge Assignable, hover over the trim you want to clone, and click . A menu is displayed. Click Clone Trim. A copy of the trim is added to Edge Assignable. Note: If using large thumbnails, Clone Trim displays instead as a separate icon when you hover over the trim.
Copy piece assignable trim	If the Materials tab is not already open, on the Resources tabs, click Materials. If not already open, click the Garment tab. Go to the Trims section. In Trims, in the Piece Assignable section, drag the desired trim to the Edge Assignable section. The trim is copied to and displayed in the Edge Assignable section. The following image shows the addition of edge assignable trim. Alternatively: If the Materials tab is not already open, on the Resources tabs, click Materials. Go to the Trims section. In Piece Assignable, click the trim you want to use. Go to the Context view, and click Edge Assignable. A copy of the trim is added to Edge Assignable.
Import edge assignable trim	If the Materials tab is not already open, on the Resources tabs, click Materials. If not already open, click the Garment tab. Go to the Trims section. In the Trims section, click . A menu is displayed. Click Add Edge Assignable Trim. A file explorer window is displayed. Navigate to the location of the trim file, and select it. Note You can add trim from an existing garment, by selecting the relevant BW or VSGX file. You can alternatively add trim by selecting the trim file. Click Open. If you did not select a BW or VSGX file, the trim is added. If you selected a BW or VSGX file, a dialog box is displayed with the available materials. Select the trim. Click OK. The trim is added to the Trims section.
Create from a seam	If the Materials tab is not already open, on the Resources tabs, click Materials. If not already open, click the Garment tab. Go to the Seams section. In the Seams section, drag the seam to Trims, in Edge Assignable.
Add zipper	If the Materials tab is not already open, on the Resources tabs, click Materials. If not already open, click the Garment tab. Go to the Trims section. In the Trims section, click . A menu is displayed. Click New Zipper. A zipper is added to Edge Assignable.

Creating a Group Trim

You can create a group trim material. Like a single trim, a group trim repeats along a line or edge it is assigned to.

To create a group trim material, you create a group trim, and add the trims to the group. To create a group trim, you must first have edge assignable trims. If you need to add trim, for more information, refer to Adding Edge Assignable Trim to a File.

To create a group trim from existing edge assignable trim material:

If the Materials tab is not already open, on the Resources tabs, click Materials.
If not already open, click the Garment tab.
Go to the Trims section.
In Trims, in the Edge Assignable section, drag one trim over another edge assignable trim. A group trim is created.
To add further trims to the group, drag them from the Edge Assignable section.

The following image shows the creation of a group trim.

Alternatively:

If the Materials tab is not already open, on the Resources tabs, click Materials.
If not already open, click the Garment tab.
Go to the Trims section.
In Trims, in the Edge Assignable section, hover over the trim you want to start the group.
Click . A menu is displayed.
Click Create Group. The group is created with the trim.
To add further trims to the group, drag them from the Edge Assignable section.
