This section describes the tools available in the workspace: on the Main toolbar and the 3D styling pane displaying in the Context view.
This first part includes screenshots of the Fold & Hang tools on the Main toolbar with the relevant options displayed on the Horizontal contextual menu. After each set of screenshots, there is a description of the tool and a table with a description of the options in the Horizontal contextual menu. At the end, there is a separate section for the 3D Gizmo and another for snapshots.
The second part deals with the 3D styling pane.
Part One: Main Toolbar
This part describes the following Fold & Hang tools:
This part also includes more information about the 3D Gizmo and Snapshots.

Texture
The Texture tool allows you to adjust the position of materials by dragging them to a new location. This is the same tool as available in the (regular) Home workspace.
The following table describes the options in the Horizontal contextual menu.

3D Gizmo
The gizmo has the following:
-
Red arrow for movement in the X axis (left and right)
-
Red curved line for rotation around the X axis
-
Green arrow for movement in the Y axis (up and down)
-
Green curved line for rotation around the Y axis
-
Blue line for movement in the Z axis (in and out)
-
Blue circle for rotation around the Z axis
To move the piece in the desired direction, drag the arrow or line. When you drag an arrow or line, it is displayed in yellow. For example, to move the piece right, drag the red arrow right. And to move the piece down, drag the green arrow down.
Tip
If you make a multiple selection, the gizmo also displays with red green and blue squares. Dragging a square resizes the selected pieces and scales them either larger or smaller. This does not affect the actual size of any piece. It does affect the size of the piece as it currently displays in the 3D window.
The following image shows a multiple selection with the Pinch tool.
3D Gizmo and 3D Fold
This section includes information about using the 3D gizmo with the 3D Fold tool. When you select the 3D Fold tool, the gizmo displays on the fold line like this:
Drag the blue curved line to fold the garment.
In addition, you may:
-
Drag the light blue ball at the center of the gizmo to move the fold line
-
Drag the green curved line to change the angle of the fold line
-
Drag the blue arrow to move the fold line up or down
-
Drag the blue square to increase or decrease the length of the fold line
For example, if the fold line crosses a part of the garment you do not want to fold, you would decrease the length of the fold line so it no longer crossed that part you do not want to fold.
Changing the Fold Direction
There is a line, perpendicular to the fold angle, which goes through the light blue ball at the center of the gizmo.
On one end is a yellow circle and on the other a purple circle.
This is a visual indication of the side that moves when the garment is folded. The side of the garment on the same side as the yellow circle is the side that moves when you fold the garment.
To change the side that moves, click the purple circle. It changes to yellow and the circle that was yellow changes to purple.
Tip
You can also change the fold direction by going to the Horizontal contextual menu and clicking Flip Side.
Snapshots
Fold & Hang snapshots differ from snapshots taken in the regular workspace.
Fold & Hang snapshots:
-
Are marked as such with a hanger icon at the top left of the thumbnail.
-
Are available to view regardless of whatever workspace you are using.
-
Can only be worked on - dressed, for example - in the Fold & Hang workspace.
If you load a Fold & Hang snapshot and click Dress while not in the Fold & Hang workspace, you are asked if you want to switch to that workspace.
Part Two: 3D Styling Pane
There are the following sections of the 3D styling pane in the Context view available in the Fold & Hang workspace:
3D Styling Properties
These properties work the same way as they do with 3D styling in the Home workspace subject to the new Elevate option.
Elevate:
-
You apply Elevate using the Pinch or Brush tool.
-
Similar to using Flatten the effect is triggered when you click Dress or move the 3D gizmo.
-
Applying Elevate to a selected area automatically removes any other 3D styling property previously applied to the area.
The effect is to raise the selected geometry upwards (in the Y axis). This option is designed mainly to help ensure collars and collar bases of dress shirts display accurately.
For more information about 3D styling, refer to Using the 3D Styling Tools.
Advanced - Layers and Simulation Options
When using the Fold & Hang workspace, if you select a layer or a pattern piece in the Advanced section, this enables the advanced configuration options.
Tip
You can select multiple pieces simultaneously and set the advanced configuration options for all of them.
The following table describes the advanced configuration options.
Note
The options include those normally available for 3D styling and new options. Those new options, unique to the Fold & Hang workspace, are highlighted with a colored row in the table.

Select to lock the layer. Future 3D styling changes do not affect the layer. |
(Reset) |
Resets the 3D simulation, with the selected layer displaying in prepare mode in the 3D window. |
Stitches |
Select to make the stitching effective in the 3D simulation. |
Strengthen Fabric |

For example, a folded shirt may require the collar to be Solid and the rest of the garment to be Medium or Low. |
Use in 3D |
Select to use the layer in the 3D simulation. |
Visible |
Select to make the layer visible in the 3D simulation. |
Tip
-
You can also set the Lock and Visible properties by clicking the appropriate icon in the layer.
