You can set an edge or internal line to shrink by a certain amount. You can configure the shrink properties in centimeters or inches, as well as a percentage.

Whether centimeters or inches is available depends on your preference settings.

To view preference settings:

  1. On the Main menu, click Edit, then click Preferences. The Preferences dialog box is displayed.

  2. Select the General tab. System Units displays the chosen unit of measurement.

To configure shrink properties:

  1. On the Main toolbar, click Select.

  2. On the Horizontal contextual menu, ensure Pieces and Internal are selected.

  3. In the 2D window, select the line or edge.

  4. If you have selected:

    1. An internal line, in the Context view, in the Line Properties section, select Shrink.

    2. An edge, in the Context view, in the Edge Properties section, select Shrink.

      The configurable shrink properties are displayed.

  5. Select

    to set a percentage, or select

    to set a measurement. The shrink properties display according to the following table.

  6. Type the values you want for the relevant properties:

    • Amount - the amount by which the edge or line is to shrink.

    • Depth - how much the piece should shrink internally.

    • Target - the target length of the edge or line when it shrinks.

Note

  • If you have already entered values and then change mode from

    or the other way round, the values are automatically converted

  • Origin displays the length of the selected edge or line

  • Shrink effects show in the 3D window after dressing the avatar
