System Requirements Details

Updated today

Definition of recommended system requirements

Recommended system requirements are the hardware and software specifications for optimal performance and user experience. These specifications are intended to ensure that the application runs smoothly and efficiently.

What to expect when using the recommended system requirements?

  • Fast simulation and styling.

  • Smooth navigation in the 3D window.

  • High quality real-time textures in all zoom levels.

  • High performance on multiple 3D windows in the 3D review workspace.

Definition of minimum system requirements

Minimum system requirements refer to the least set of hardware and software specifications necessary for VS to install and run. Meeting these requirements ensures that the application can operate at a basic level, though performance might not be optimal.

What to expect when using the minimum system requirements?

  • Slower simulation and styling.

  • Slower navigation in the 3D window on complex garments and outfits.

  • Reduced Real-time textures quality depending on zoom level.

  • Slower Ray-Trace renders.

  • Reduced performance on multiple 3D windows in the 3D review workspace.

GPU Memory: VStitcher and Lotta (version 2022.1 and later), use Unreal Engine as the default 3D display engine. For best 3D performance and navigation with Unreal Engine, check your computer's GPU memory settings (VRAM). The minimum is 4GB VRAM; however it is recommended to use 8GB or higher. Using 8GB will provide a smoother workflow and prevent blurry textures, especially when zooming in. To locate the VRAM on your machine, see Locating the VRAM information on your Windows machine.

For Real time ray trace use NVIDIA® RTX 3000 series Graphic Card. See Graphics Card Drivers and Settings for further recommendations.

It is not recommended for users to use VStitcher or Lotta on a virtual machine, as performance is significantly reduced. Always install the application on each user's actual physical laptop or workstation.

V-Ray Local – GPU Rendering Requirements (Windows)

When using V-Ray Local > GPU, the following additional requirements apply.

GPU Requirements

RTX rendering is available only on NVIDIA RTX-class GPUs.

Your GPU must meet the following requirements:

  • RTX-enabled graphics card (Turing generation or newer)

  • Minimum 8 GB VRAM

  • Latest NVIDIA Studio Driver

    • Chaos recommends version 581.57 or newer

Note: The full scene—including textures and geometry—must fit into the GPU’s VRAM for RTX mode to run.

Recommended Hardware for Best Performance (V-Ray GPU)

For smoother performance when working with high-resolution materials, multiple garments, or final-quality renders:

  • NVIDIA RTX 3060 (12 GB) or newer

  • 32 GB RAM or more

  • Multi-core CPU with 6 or more physical cores

CPU and System Requirements (V-Ray Local GPU)

  • Intel or AMD 64-bit CPU with AVX2 support

  • Windows 10 (version 2004 or newer) or Windows 11

  • Minimum: 8 GB system RAM

  • Recommended: 32 GB RAM or higher for complex garments or high-resolution textures

Additional Notes

  • V-Ray GPU rendering is supported only on NVIDIA GPUs.

  • RTX mode is not available on AMD GPUs or on macOS.

  • If a scene exceeds available GPU memory, V-Ray may fall back to CPU-based rendering.
