This feature allows you to reduce (or release) the tension of a stitch for fitting purposes. You can use this feature to replicate real world practices.
For example, as a pattern-maker, you might see a high-tension area and would want to know much fabric to add. Using this feature, you can reduce tension in the stitching until the pieces separate and the tension map is acceptable. Then you are able to measure the distance between the pieces and know how much fabric needs to be added.
Another use case is the creation of soft folds. This can be achieved by creating a dot stitch and reducing the stitch tension until a suitably smooth fold is created.
Reducing Stitch Tension
To reduce stitch tension:
On the Main toolbar, click Stitch.
In the 2D or 3D window, click the stitch whose tension you want to reduce. You can select more than one stitch.
Go to the Context view and adjust Release as required.
You can drag the slider, or type in a value. At 0% the stitch tension is unaffected. The higher the percentage, the more the tension is reduced. The maximum value is 99%.
If you change the tension of a stitch, the simulation blinks.
On the Main toolbar, click Dress to update the simulation display in the 3D window.
Note
If you select multiple stitches (including multi-stitches) and there is a collision in the tension value of the selected stitches, no Release value is displayed.
Viewing Stitch Tension Details
Details of stitch tension are included in the Stitches display on the Resources tabs.
To view:
Go to the Resources tabs.
click Params, then Stitches.
