2D Fold

How to fold your 2D pieces in VStitcher when evaluating your pattern

The 2D Fold tool allows checking accuracy of pattern pieces using 2D transformation based on selection of edges, internal lines and points and by defining which pieces are folded.

Folding a piece in 2D

To use the 2D Fold tool:

1. Position the pieces you want to inspect.

2. From the Tools menu, select 2D Fold.

Multiple Folds

From version 2026.2 and onward, we can now have multiple 2D folds on one piece. You can have two folds of the same method (e.g. two folds on two internal lines), or a combination of folds of varying methods.

In below example, we have folded the hem of our sleeve twice using internal lines to check how this would affect the final construction:

Tip: We can now also use the pen tool, and fast measure tool while a piece is in a folded state without having to leave the fold tool.
