3D Annotations

This feature allows you to communicate revisions, new designs, comments and so on, without changing the garment or the simulation. You add annotations to the garment in the 3D window.

Annotations are part of the file and can be included in the tech pack. For more information, refer to Tech Packs in VStitcher.

Note

Annotations are connected to the camera view and colorway. If you change the camera view or colorway, the annotations no longer display.

Adding an Annotation

To add an annotation:

Displaying an Annotation in a Separate Window

You can display an annotation in a separate window.

To display the annotation in a separate window:

  1. On the 3D annotations pane, click the annotation you want to display. At the right side, opposite the annotation name, icons are displayed.

    Note

    The icon for your external image editor is displayed only after an annotation was created using your external image editor. Clicking the icon is equivalent to clicking Draw Externally on the Horizontal contextual menu. For more information, refer to Draw Externally.

    . The annotation is displayed in a separate window. To close the window, click X at the top right of the window.

Hiding an Annotation

You can hide an annotation so that it does not display in the 3D window. Note that the annotation flag does display.

To hide the annotation:

  1. On the 3D annotations pane, click the annotation you want to hide. At the right side, opposite the annotation name, icons are displayed.

    Note

    The icon for your external image editor is displayed only after an annotation was created using your external image editor. Clicking the icon is equivalent to clicking Draw Externally on the Horizontal contextual menu. For more information, refer to Draw Externally.

Tip

If you hide an annotation, go to another annotation, and then return to the original annotation, the original annotation is no longer hidden. An annotation can be hidden only when it is selected, and when it's unselected it reverts to shown.

Closing the 3D Annotations Pane

Once you have finished working on the 3D annotations pane, you can close it.

To close the 3D annotations pane, do one of the following:

  • On the 3D annotations pane, click

  • On the Main toolbar, click a different tool. For example, click Select.

Viewing Annotations

If there are annotations, you can view these in the 3D annotations pane and reply, edit, or delete as appropriate.

To display the pane:

  1. In the 3D window, ensure you have a completed simulation displaying.

  2. On the Main toolbar, click Annotate.

    The 3D annotations pane is displayed on the left of the screen.

  3. If there are multiple annotations, click one to select it.

  4. Click Reply, Edit, or Delete, as appropriate. If you reply, this is added to the annotation.

Tip

Alternatively, on the Main menu, click Tools, then 3D Annotations to view the pane.

Deleting Annotations

You can easily delete annotations.

To delete an annotation:

  1. In the 3D annotations pane, hover over the annotation. An X is displayed.

  2. Click X. A confirmation message is displayed.

  3. Click Yes. The annotation is deleted.

Tip

To delete an individual comment, go to the comment and click Delete.

Adding an Annotation

To add an annotation:

  1. In the 3D window, ensure you have a completed simulation displaying.

  2. On the 3D window toolbar, click the 3D annotations icon.

    The 3D annotations pane is displayed on the left of the screen.

  3. Click

    new-annotation.png

    . A text box is displayed.

    Tip

    The brush tool icon displays on the Main toolbar:

  4. Type in your annotation. When text is entered, an Add button is displayed.

  5. After completing the annotation, click

    . The annotation is displayed with a numbered flag.

    A matching flag is displayed in the 3D window.

  6. On the Main toolbar, click Select.

  7. In the 3D window, drag the flag to wherever you want it to appear.

    The flag position is not fixed. You can drag the flag to a new location.

  8. Save your file.

    Tip

    To make the annotation more effective, you can use the pen or brush tool to draw in the 3D window.

Closing the 3D Annotations Pane

Once you have finished working on the 3D annotations pane, you can close it.

To close the 3D annotations pane, do one of the following:

  • On the 3D window toolbar, click the 3D annotations icon.

  2. If there are multiple annotations, click one to select it.

  3. Click Reply, Edit, or Delete, as appropriate. If you reply, this is added to the annotation.

Tip

Deleting All Annotations

You can easily delete annotations.
