Roles, Permissions, and Types

Permission to content on your Stylezone site depends on your role (both user level and folder level) as well as the folder type. Below are three tables outlining the capabilities permitted per role and folder type.

Tip: You may find the tables of available user role actions and folder role actions helpful in understanding how the different user roles and folder roles work together.

User Roles (site-wide role)

Each user role has different permissions as described in the following table:

User Role

Permissions

A user with the admin role can:

  • Create users of all types

  • Change a user's role

  • Delete users of all types

  • Create folders

  • Delete folders

  • Access folders the admin user is not a member of

  • Set and change folder roles - for example, add a moderator to a folder

Note: A user with the admin role cannot access, view, edit, or delete private styles or chats. To do this, the user would need to take over the account.

A user with the member role can:

  • Upload styles to that member's personal zone

  • Create folders inside that member's personal zone

  • Create folders, and

    • Become the moderator of any folder so created

A user with the moderator role can:

    • Another folder moderated by the user

    • Another folder in which the user is a contributor

  • Delete folders

  • Edit all styles in the folder

  • Comment on all styles

  • Access public folders only

  • View folders, styles, and comments in public folders

Folder Types (specific to each folder)

Each folder type has different characteristics as described in the following table:

Folder Type

Description

Private

A group consisting only of you. For more information, refer to Groups and Personal Areas.

Members only

A group for members only.

Members and external users

A group for members and External users.

Public

A group open to all who have the appropriate link.

Folders and Personal Zones

Every user has their own personal zone which is a private folder, automatically created when the user account is created. Also, the user's personal zone automatically has a board called My Uploads.

Users can upload styles to the folders in their personal zone. In Stylezone, a logged in user who clicks on their username, then "Profile" in the top right corner of Stylezone can view their user page:

This includes a Private Folders tab, with the My Uploads board, and any other personal zone boards. Users can create as many boards in their personal zone as they wish:

You can create a personal folder using the "+ Add Folder" button on the right side of your personal zone.

What differentiates the personal zone from other folders is that a user cannot invite people to the personal zone - it is for your eyes only. Admin users do not have access to other users' personal zones.

When a user decides they are ready to share a private style to a shared folder, they can duplicate the style from their personal zone into a folder. A copy of the style is kept in the user’s personal zone.
