POM (Points of Measure)

How to create and save measurements on your pattern, and automatically reshape pieces to meet your target specs

Overview

In VStitcher 2026.3.0, formulas and Points of Measure (POMs) live together in one table in the 2D Measure panel. You can mark any formula as a POM, review POM values across your whole size run, export the table to CSV, and convert your existing Rulers into POMs.

If Target & Apply Changes is enabled for your organization, you can also enter the measurement you want a POM to have and let VStitcher reshape the pattern piece to match it — no more manual trial and error to hit a spec value.

Prerequisites

  • VStitcher 2026.3.0 or later

  • A garment with pattern pieces in the 2D window

  • For Target & Apply Changes only: an Enterprise or Teams account, with the feature enabled for your organization by Browzwear. Contact your Customer Success Manager to request access.

How to create and review POMs

1. Open the 2D Measure panel and go to the Formulas tab.

2. Create a formula as you do today. You can also select a line or two points in the 2D window, right-click, and choose Save to Formula.

3. In the formula's row, click the POM icon to mark it as a Point of Measure:

Click a row to highlight its measurement in the 2D window:

To change the order of your POMs, drag a row by its grip handle (⠿). The new order also appears in the POM in Sizes tab:

Open the POM in Sizes tab to see each POM's value for every size. Use the filter icon to choose which sizes appear and whether to show the Diff columns:

How to export the POM table

1. On the POM tab or the POM in Sizes tab, click the export icon:

2. Choose Current size only or All sizes.

3. Click Export POM now. The table is saved as a CSV file in the same column and row order you see on screen.

How to convert Rulers to POMs

1. Open a file that contains Rulers. When the prompt appears, choose Convert Rulers to POMs:

  • If you closed the prompt, you can convert at any time with the Convert button at the top of the Rulers tab.

2. Go to the Formulas tab. Each Ruler now appears as a new POM below your existing POMs:

Note: Rulers are read-only from this release onward. If a Ruler can't be converted, it stays in the Rulers list and a message tells you how many Rulers were not converted.

How to use Target & Apply Changes

Target & Apply changes will allow you to automatically resize your pattern pieces from their current size to your target size, within a set tolerance. You can create any POM on your pieces, evaluate it, and re-size the piece automatically if needed.

This feature is in beta and is being rolled out gradually. If you are interested, please contact your Customer Success Manager to see if you are eligible to have the feature enabled for your organization.

How to do this:

1. Make sure the base size is active.

2. In a POM row, enter the measurement you want in the Target column. Optionally, enter a tolerance in the Tol (+/-) column:

3. Click Apply Changes. VStitcher reshapes the pattern piece to meet all of its POM targets together and refreshes the 2D values:

Check the table: if a row's 2D value is outside its Target ± Tol (or doesn't match the Target when no tolerance is set), the cell is outlined in red:

Limitations

  • You can enter a Target only on rows marked as POM.

  • Apply Changes is available on the base size only. Other sizes update automatically through grading.

  • VStitcher solves the whole pattern piece at once, so changing one target can change other measurements on the same piece.

  • If the targets can't all be reached, you'll see "One or more targets are not possible. Please try another target." and the pattern is not changed.

  • Tolerance doesn't affect the calculation. It only controls the red outline after Apply Changes.

  • Export is available as CSV in this release (2026.3.0).
