Use Visual Annotations

This feature allows you to add visual annotations to comments inside the style view. Visual annotations include arrows, typed text, images, shapes, pencil tool and other tools that enable detailed annotation.

You can add, edit, move or delete annotations.

For styles that include annotations, a yellow indication appears next to comments icon, at the top of the style view.

To add visual annotations to a comment:

Click a comment to edit, or click to add a comment or a reply. The annotation toolbar is displayed.

Icon Action
Toolbar handle Press and hold to move the toolbar around the style view
Line

Select to add a line or arrow annotation to the style view.

To edit the line:

  1. Select the desired line. Bounding boxes appear around the line.

  2. Use the bounding boxes to change the size of the line, rotate or change location of the line.

To duplicate the line: Click ALT + D. Or select the annotation, click ALT and then drag the annotation to duplicate.

 

To edit the arrow:

  1. Select the desired arrow. Bounding boxes appear around the arrow.

  2. Use the bounding boxes to change the size of the arrow, rotate or change location.

To duplicate the arrow: Click ALT + D. Or select the annotation, click ALT and then drag the annotation to duplicate.

Use the pen tool to draw straight or curved vector lines. Use the pencil tool to annotate freely in the style view.

The cursor will change to the pen or pencil icon depending on your selection.

To add a line using the Pen tool:

  1. Select the Pen tool and then click on the style where you want to add a line. A point is added.

  2. Draw the line and click to add a new point.

After drawing the line, you can:

  • Change the position of a point, drag a handle, and adjust curves.

  • Click ALT to move the handles independently.

  • Double click a point to toggle between changing between a sharp point and a curved point.

  • Select, move, and change line color and width.
  • Click ALT + D to duplicate the shape created using the pen or pencil tool. Or select the annotation, click ALT and then drag the annotation to duplicate.
   
Shapes

Select to add a shape annotation to the style view.

To edit the shape:

  1. Select the desired shape. Bounding boxes appear around the shape.

  2. Use the bounding boxes to change the size of the shape, rotate or change location of the shape.

To duplicate the shape: Click ALT + D. Or select the annotation, click ALT and then drag the annotation to duplicate.

Text

Select to add a text annotation to the style view.

  1. Select the icon, a text box appears.

  2. Type in the desired text, then click return.

To edit the text:

  1. Select the desired text. Bounding boxes appear around the text.

  2. Use the bounding boxes to change the size of the text, rotate or change location.

Image

Select to add an image annotation to the style view.

To add an image:

  1. Select the icon, the files navigator is displayed.

  2. Choose the desired image. The image is added to the style view.

To edit the image:

  1. Select the desired image. Bounding boxes appear around the image.

  2. Use the bounding boxes to change the size of the image, rotate or change location.

Color annotation

Use to change the color of an annotation.

  1. Select the desired annotation.

  2. Select the color tool. The colors palette is displayed.

  3. Use the color palette to change the color of the selected annotation.

You may also set the color before adding a new annotation.

Line width

Use to edit the annotation line width.

To edit a line width:

  1. Select the desired annotation.

  2. Select the line width tool. The line width range is displayed.S

  3. Use the line width range to set the desired line width.

You may also set the line width before adding a new annotation.

Remove

Select to delete all visual annotations.

Duplicate and Flip Annotations

This feature allows you to duplicate and flip annotations. 

To duplicate an annotation: 

  1. Select the annotation in the Style view. A tool bar is displayed at the bottom of the Style view.

  2. Select the duplicate button duplicate.png. The annotation is duplicated.

Note: The duplicate functions is not applicable on text annotations.

To duplicate and flip an annotation:

  1. Select the annotation in the Style view. A tool bar is displayed at the bottom of the Style view.

  2. Select either the duplicate and flip horizontally button flip-horizontal.png, or the duplicate and flip vertically button flip-vertically.png.

Note: The duplicate and flip function is not applicable on circles, squares, rectangles, text annotations, or shapes created using the pencil tool. (You can duplicate and flip shapes inserted using the pen tool, and images).
