Thickness Test

To run the test:

  1. On the list on the left side of the page, click Thickness. The following screen is displayed.

  2. Type the sample width into Enter fabric width. (The default is 5 cm.)

  3. Remove any sample fabric from the machine.

  4. Ensure that the:

    1. Fixed (or stationary) clamp is closed

    2. Movable clamp is open.

  5. Click Start. The movable clamp moves into place.

  6. Attach the thickness extension to the movable clamp using the holes in the thickness extension as a guide. The extension is fixed by a magnet. The longer side of the thickness extension should be closer to the fixed clamp.

  7. Position the fabric sample on the FAB according to these instructions.

  8. Click Start.

    The test is complete when two blue ticks are displayed on the right side of the page.

  9. Remove the fabric sample.

  10. Remove the thickness extension.

  11. Click Next.

Positioning the Fabric for the Thickness Test

To position the fabric:

  1. Open the clip on the thickness extension and insert the fabric sample so it drapes down the thickness extension to almost touch the base plate. Then, close the clip on the thickness extension.

  2. Drape the extra part of the fabric sample behind and on the thickness extension so that it does not touch the base plate.
