Working Remotely
This section contains information about working remotely with Browzwear software.
Terminology
Understanding the following terms may help you deal with any remote working issues that arise.

Microsoft Remote Desktop (RDP/RDC) |
Feature that allows a user to connect to a computer in another location and interact with the remote machine as if it were local. Requires a specific port open to enable this connection. Note:

Remote Access Software (RAS) |
Software that allows a user to connect to a computer in another location, giving the user the same experience as though they were sitting at the computer in the remote location (such as the office). Examples include Teamviewer, Anydesk, and Splashtop. RAS does not need to have a specific port open. Some companies may block certain RAS. VNC was the predecessor to RAS. |
Virtual Machine |
A virtual machine is software that emulates a physical machine with software. |
Virtual Private Network (VPN) |
Direct tunnel through the internet from a remote network location into the source network location. For example, from home to office. Note: License dongles and cloud licenses are supported when using a VPN. |
Setting Up a Remote Connection
For the best software performance, users should take their work computers home.
Licensing when using work computer at home:
Users already working from a network or cloud license should be able to continue to do so remotely.
Users using local dongles should continue working with their dongle plugged into their computer. However, only a single user may use this license. If more than one user needs to share a local dongle, reach out to your Browzwear Client Success contact and we can work with you to set up a cloud license instead of your dongle.
Variables present in this set-up:
Internet strength and stability of home networks may affect the user’s network or cloud license connection.
Internet speed may be affected by enterprise security features such as VPN, firewalls, and anti-virus software.
It may not be possible for all users to take their workstations home, so some users may be connecting with remote access software. This is a more complicated set-up because it introduces more variables into the situation.
Licensing when using remote access:
Users already working from a cloud license should be able to continue to do so remotely.
Users using network or local dongles may experience limitations depending on which type of remote access is being used.
Variables present in this set-up:
Internet speed of the home and the office network. If either are low in speed or unstable, then the user will experience poor software performance.
VStitcher and Lotta operations are mostly handled by the CPU of the office computer. Therefore, in general, simulation should perform normally. However, internet performance may still adversely affect software speed and interactivity.
The home computer's CPU affects the frame rate updating the user’s view into the office computer.
Internet speed may be affected by enterprise security features such as VPN, firewalls, and anti-virus software.
