Attaching a Piece
The Attach feature allows you to attach one pattern piece to another without having to stitch the pieces together. Because you are attaching a pattern piece, that pattern piece can be fully configured as with other pattern pieces. For example, you can assign seam material to the edges. The Attach feature is a quick way of, for example, adding pockets to a garment.
Prerequisites
You can attach a piece using the Attach feature provided it has none of the following:
3D trim assigned
Diamond darts
Internal line with the Cross property
Intersection fill
Lotta artwork assigned
Pleats
Smart Zipper assigned
Stitching (or internal lines or points with stitches)
Symmetry - full or inner
VStitcher attachment assigned

Physics and the Attach Feature
VStitcher 2021.3.1 and newer
Previously, when you attached an element to another, the software used the physical properties of the element on top for the simulation behavior of the combined elements. Now, when you attach an element to another, the software combines the physical properties of both elements and uses that in simulation.
Iron the materials to each other.
Use the FAB to measure the combined physical properties.
in VStitcher, edit the physical properties of the combined elements to match the data in FAB.
Combining Materials Without Stitching
How you combine materials in VStitcher determines how the software replicates their physical properties.
Combination Method |
Effect |
---|---|
Attach |
Physical properties are the combined physical properties of both materials. |
Closed cut mark |
Physical properties and texture are those of the top material. |
Open cut mark |
