To create internal symmetry, the piece must be symmetrical to start with.
To create internal symmetry:
-
In the 2D window, click the piece on which you want to add symmetry.
-
Go to the Context view, in the Actions section, at Inner Symmetry.
-
Click Create. A line showing the symmetry is displayed in the piece.
In the 2025.1 version and beyond, stitches will automatically duplicate when creating symmetry. This enhancement applies to both Inner Symmetry and Full Symmetry Creation.
Old Behavior (Pre-2025.1):
- Stitches applied before symmetry creation were not mirrored to the new symmetrical pattern (Full Symmetry) or side (Inner Symmetry).
- Users had to manually restitch the new side.
New Behavior (2025.1 & Newer):
- When symmetry is created, stitches on the original pattern are automatically duplicated to the new symmetrical side or pattern.
- Saves time and reduces manual work.
Use Case Example 1 - Inner Symmetry:
- You’ve stitched the front bodice (side seam, shoulder seam, neckline to collar).
- The wearer’s left side of the pattern is missing.
- Select the center front edge of the front bodice and in the context view, click Edge Symmetry: Create. Ensure Duplicate Stitches in Creation is checked.
- Stitches are automatically mirrored onto the wearer’s left side, completing the garment without additional stitching.
