Starting the Walk Tool

You can start the walk tool using one of the following options:

• Right-click menu

• Context View

Using the Right-Click Menu

To start the walk tool using the right-click menu:

1. Open a garment or import a pattern file.

   For information about importing a pattern file, refer to Importing, Exporting, and Opening Files.

   The pattern pieces are displayed in the 2D window.

2. Decide which two pattern pieces to use with the walk tool.

3. On the Main toolbar, click Select.

4. On the Horizontal contextual menu, ensure Edit Points is enabled.

   

5. In the 2D window, click on a point of one pattern piece.

   This first piece is the walk piece.

6. Press Shift and click on a point of the second pattern piece.

   This second piece is the stationary piece.

7. Right-click on either the walk piece or the stationary piece.

   A context menu is displayed.

   

8. Select Walk Pieces.

   You are now in walk mode.

9. In the 2D window, click the walk piece.

10. A pivot point is displayed.

11. Place the mouse on the pivot point and drag it along the stationary piece.

Using the Context View

To start the walk tool using the Context view:

1. Open a garment or import a pattern file.

   For information about importing a pattern file, refer to Importing, Exporting, and Opening Files.

   The pattern pieces are displayed in the 2D window.

2. Decide which two pattern pieces to use with the walk tool.

3. On the Main toolbar, click Select.

4. On the Horizontal contextual menu, ensure Edit Points is selected.

   

5. In the 2D window, click on a point of one pattern piece.

   This first piece is the walk piece.

6. Press Shift and click on a point of the second pattern piece.

   This second piece is the stationary piece.

7. In the Context view, in the Actions section, click Walk Pieces.

   .

   In the 2D window, “Select a stationary piece” is displayed.

8. Click the stationary piece.

   In the 2D window, the pivot point is displayed. In addition, "Right-click for more options. Esc to exit the walk tool." is displayed.

9. Place the mouse over the pivot point and drag it along the stationary piece.
