Stitching in the 2D Window
This section shows the alternative method of stitching in the 2D window.
For more details, expand each of the following:
To stitch the front and back pieces together:

Go to the 2D window.

Arrange the front and back pieces so you can see both clearly.

On the Main toolbar, click Stitch.

Go to the Context view.
-
Ensure Single stitch is selected.
The following image shows the required stitches: the A edges are stitched to one another, the B edges are stitched to one another, and so on.

To stitch the A and B edges:
-
Click edge A of either piece near the bottom of the piece.

Click edge A of the other piece, again near the bottom of the piece.
The following image shows the stitching of the edges.
The stitches are displayed.
VStitcher stitches the A and B edges. This is because these edges have symmetry. This means that when you do an action on one edge, VStitcher automatically does the same action to the other symmetrical edge.
For example, in piece 1 (back) the two edges shown highlighted in the following illustration have symmetry.
VStitcher recognizes this, and when one edge is stitched, VStitcher automatically creates the matching stitch for the other edge.

To stitch the C and D edges:

Click edge C of either piece near the bottom of the edge.

Click edge C on the other piece, again near the bottom of the edge.
The following image shows the stitching of the edges.
The stitches are displayed. VStitcher stitches the C and D edges. Again, this is because the edges have symmetry.

Save the file: on the Main toolbar, click .
To stitch the sleeves to the body:
-
Go to the 2D window.
-
Arrange the front, back, and sleeve pieces in the 2D window as in the following illustration.
Remember to use the gizmo.To stitch the right sleeve (piece 3) to the body, you stitch edge S to edge S1 then S2, as shown in the following image.

On the Main toolbar, click Stitch.

Go to the Context view.
-
Ensure Multi Stitch is selected.

Click the bottom part of edge S of the sleeve, as shown in the following image.
The edge is highlighted showing the stitch direction.

Go to the Context view.
-
In Multi Stitch, click To.
To is highlighted to show it is selected.
-
Click the bottom part of edge S1 that you want to stitch to, as shown in the following image. This is to give you the correct stitch direction.

Click the top of the armhole edge S2 near the shoulder that you want to stitch to, as shown in the following image.

Press Enter.
The following image shows the stitching of the sleeves to the body.
The stitches are displayed. VStitcher stitches the edge of the other sleeve because it has symmetry with the sleeve you stitched.

Save the file: on the Main toolbar, click .
To stitch the sleeve edges together:

On the Main toolbar, click Stitch.
-
Go to the Context view.
-
Ensure Single stitch is selected.

On either sleeve piece, click one of the edges that is to be joined together.

On the same sleeve piece, click the other edge that is to be stitched to.
The stitches are displayed on both sleeves.

Save the file: on the Main toolbar, click .
The following image shows how the collar is stitched. The collar stitch from edge 1 is connected to edges 2, 3, 4, and 5 in that order.
To stitch the collar to the body:

On the Main toolbar, click Stitch.

Go to the Context view.
-
Ensure Multi Stitch is selected.

Click the bottom edge of the collar, on the left, as shown in the following image.

Go to the Context view.

In Multi Stitch, click To.
To is highlighted to show it is selected.

Click on the front piece, on the left side of the edge that you are stitching to, as shown in the following image. The stitching direction should be left to right.

Click on the front piece, on the next part of the edge that you are stitching to, as shown in the following image. The stitching direction should be left to right.

Click on the back piece, on the right side of the edge you are stitching to, as shown in the following image.

Click on the back piece, on the next part of the edge that you are stitching to, as shown in the following image.

Press Enter.
The following image shows the stitching of the collar to the body.

Save the file: on the Main toolbar, click .
The last stitching required is to join the two ends of the collar together.
To stitch the collar together:

On the Main toolbar, click Stitch.

Go to the Context view.
-
Ensure Single stitch is selected.

Click the left vertical edge of the collar.
-
Click the right vertical edge of the collar.
The stitches are displayed.

Rearrange the back piece (numbered 1) so it is the right way up.
The following image shows the gizmo in action without holding down the Shift key. Generally, you may prefer to hold down the Shift key while using the gizmo to save you having to type anything.

Save the file: on the Main toolbar, click .
