You can do the following to each of the zipper parts:

  • Replace the part

  • Extract a copy of the part - for use in another garment

  • Edit the part in third-party software

Replacing a Zipper Part

To replace a part:

  1. If the Materials tab is not already open, on the Resources tabs, click Materials.

  2. On the Materials tab, in the Trims section, in Edge Assignable, hover over the zipper image.

    Tip

    You can click the “X” icon to delete the zipper. The “X” icon is replaced by a “-” icon if the zipper has been assigned to a line or edge. Click the “-” icon to remove the zipper from the lines or edges to which it has been assigned.

  3. Click

    . A menu is displayed.

  4. Click Look Inside to view the zipper parts. The zipper parts are displayed in a pop-up pane.

  5. On the part you want to replace, click

    . A menu is displayed.

  6. Click Replace. A file explorer window is displayed.

  7. Navigate to the location of the replacement part and select it.

  8. Click Open. The old part is replaced with the new part.

Dragging to Replace a Zipper Part

In addition, you can replace zipper parts by dragging a seam or fabric from the Resources tabs to the zipper. If you do this, a pop-up pane is displayed asking you to select the part you want to replace.

You can only select only eligible parts . For example, if you drag a seam, you can only select Teeth - Closed or Teeth - Open. The following table summarizes the eligible parts.

Extracting a Copy of a Zipper Part

To extract a copy of a part:

You can edit the following zipper parts in external software:

  • Teeth - Closed

  • Teeth - Open

  • Tape

To edit a zipper part:

  6. Click Edit Externally. The part is opened up in your default graphics software.
