Starting from Version 2025.1, the Symmetrical Avatar Pose features allow you to adjust the pose of an avatar symmetrically.

Supported Avatars

Symmetrical posing is only available for avatars provided by Browzwear from installation and from the cloud.

To start, load the avatar you want to create a pose for, and either create a new pose by selecting “add pose” in the poses menu, or by editing one by clicking the pen icon on an existing pose.

Once in the pose edit mode, select the joint you want to rotate. The selected joint will be green, and you will see all following joints highlighted in yellow.

Edit Poses Symmetrically

Option 1 – Activate “Symmetry” in context menu.

Activate “Symmetry” in context menu and start rotating the selected joint. The other side of the avatar will mirror the rotation and match the pose.

Option 2 – Multi select both joints.

Instead of activating “Symmetry”, you could also simply shift select the mirroring joints and rotate them together. Their movement will be mirrored correctly by default.

Option 3 – Mirror Joint Rotations.

If we are starting with a pose that is already asymmetrical and we simply want to copy the rotation of one side to the other, we can select the joints and select “Mirror Joint Rotations” in the context menu

Joint Hierarchy

Selecting hierarchy of joints allows us to rotate consecutive joints together. We can do this by either multi selecting consecutive joints by holding down shift, or by clicking “Select Hierarchy” in the context menu after selecting the first joint. This multi-selection of consecutive joints is available regardless of symmetry, for example it can be very useful for naturally bending the spine forward.

You can also shift select multiple joints and then activate “Select hierarchy” in the context menu to edit multiple lines of consecutive joints together. A good example for this is closing the hand into a fist. If “Symmetry” is active during this process, you will have edited both hands into fists at the same time.

Note

You can reset a joint by clicking the reset button next to the rotation values. Resetting a joint will bring it to its initial state. This is the state that joint was in during the last “save” of that pose.
