Fabric Testing Service: What to Send

Before Browzwear Studio can begin fabric testing, you need to send both a completed Excel Fabric Master List and physical fabric swatches. This article describes exactly what to prepare and how to label your materials.

Excel Fabric Master List

Send a completed Excel Fabric Master List spreadsheet. The spreadsheet must match the physical fabrics you are sending — every swatch should have a corresponding entry in the list.

Fabric Swatches

Send physical fabric swatches with a minimum size of 50 cm x 50 cm (20" x 20").

Note: Send solid color fabrics unless you specifically want to capture surface designs on the fabric.

For the shipping address for physical samples, contact your CSM.

Labeling Requirements

Each swatch must be labeled with the following:

  1. Face and Back indication — clearly mark which side is the face and which is the back.

  2. ID Letter — the ID Article number/code corresponding to the swatch's entry in the Excel Fabric Master List.

  3. Grainline — mark the grainline if the selvage is not clearly visible on the swatch.

Fabric Color

Send a medium-colored fabric for the best scanning results. Avoid black or white fabrics — medium colors allow for greater image quality, while white and black fabrics compromise image integrity during the capturing process.

Repeat Size

If your fabric has a surface repeat (such as a print, yarn-dyed design, embossed pattern, lace, or jacquard), the repeat must be smaller than 24 cm x 17 cm (9 in x 6.5 in) and be clearly identifiable.

Note: The "repeat" refers to the fabric construction itself or any surface design on top of the fabric construction (all-over prints, yarn-dyed designs, embossed, lace, jacquard, etc.).

If the repeat in the fabric exceeds this size, it will require multiple scans, and the results will need to be stitched together. If you are considering testing this kind of fabric, please contact your CSM in advance.

Standards for Creating u3ma Files

Browzwear Studio follows a standard fabric testing process. Fabrics are obtained at a DPI setting of 300, and the size of the fabric is determined based on the actual repeat area. A comprehensive naming convention governs all aspects of production, including the naming of fabric folders, fabric layers, physical attributes, and u3ma files.

Important: If you have your own production standards and specifications, please provide them before Studio begins work.
