VS Auto Colorway Plugin

Generate batches of new colorways from built-in seasonal palettes or an imported Adobe Swatch Exchange file, using standard color-theory strategies.

Overview

VS Auto Colorway builds and applies colorways live from a palette and a chosen generation strategy. Unwanted results can be deleted individually or in bulk.

Requirements

  • VStitcher 2025.3.0 or newer (BwApi 3.x)

How to Generate Colorways

Step 1: Choose a Palette

Open Plugins → VS Auto Colorway and select a palette from the library, or click Import ASE to load your own.

Step 2: Select Materials

The plugin scans the open garment and lists every material found. Filter the list by type — Fabric, Stitch, or Trims — using the type buttons above the list, then check the individual materials that should receive new colorways. Unchecked materials are left untouched by generation.

Step 3: Choose a Strategy

Strategy

How colors are assigned

Harmony

Colors from the palette applied in palette order

Complementary

Each color paired with its complement

Analogous

Adjacent hues from the palette

Triadic

Three evenly-spaced hues

Monochromatic

Shades and tints of a single hue

60-30-10 Rule

Dominant, secondary, and accent split

Random

Random selection from the palette

Step 4: Generate

Toggle Mix & Match for independent colour slots per material, set how many colorways to generate — the permutation count hint shows how many distinct results are theoretically possible — and click Generate. Delete unwanted results from the tracking list.

Data & Privacy

VS Auto Colorway reads garment style/material names from the open garment to populate its UI, and writes two kinds of local files under the per-user Browzwear log directory: a debug log (palette/strategy names and material counts, capped at 2MB) and imported ASE palettes saved as JSON under config/palettes/custom/. Nothing is transmitted off-device — the plugin makes no network calls.

Troubleshooting

Issue

Fix

ASE import fails

Check the file is a valid .ase — not all ASE versions are identical

Colours look wrong

Some strategies use HSL math; very dark or desaturated palettes may produce similar results

Colorways not deleting

Only colorways tracked in this session can be bulk-deleted

No materials listed

Open a garment first, then reopen the plugin — the list is populated by scanning the currently open garment
