You can create a symmetrical extension of a piece using edge symmetry. The new part of the piece and the original piece are combined into one piece, and are symmetrical through the selected edge. For example, you might have a pattern piece that is the front right of a t-shirt. To make this piece the entire front of the t-shirt, you can create an extension of the piece using edge symmetry.
To create a piece using edge symmetry:
-
In the 2D window, click the edge of the piece to which you want the extension to be added.
For example, the following image is the front right piece of a t-shirt. You want to use edge symmetry to create an extension of the piece, and therefore a single piece that is the whole of the front of the t-shirt. To do this, you select the indicated edge.
-
Go to the Context view, in the Actions section, at Edge Symmetry.
-
Click Create. The extension of the piece is added to the existing piece to make one new piece with inner symmetry through the center line.
Continuing the example, the following image is the newly created single piece that is the whole of the front of the t-shirt.
