Note

Version 2023.2 includes slight changes to the user interface. The icons of the resources tabs are now displayed vertically on the left. As a result of this change, depending on the software version that you use, the user interface may look different.

The 2D window displays pieces, stitches, and other shape related elements.

Tip

With your mouse in the 2D window, press Tab to maximize the window. Press Tab again to reverse the action.

Navigating and Selecting in the 2D Window

You can navigate and select in the 2D window by:

Mouse

Before using the mouse to select or move pieces:

  1. On the Main toolbar, click Select.

  2. On the Horizontal contextual menu, ensure Piecesis selected.

With that done, you can select and move pieces.

  • Select a piece - click on the piece.

  • Select multiple pieces - press Shift while clicking on the pieces. Alternatively, you can marquee select multiple pieces by dragging the mouse over them.

  • Select the edge of a piece - click on the edge.

  • Select an internal line

    1. On the Horizontal contextual menu, ensure Internal is selected.

    2. Click on the line.

  • Move a piece - drag the piece.

  • Move all pieces - hold down the spacebar (or the mouse wheel button, or the middle button on a three button mouse) and drag the background.

  • Zoom in/out - rotate the mouse wheel button. You can change how the rotation works in Preferences. For more information, refer to 2D Window Toolbar.

Note

  • You can also use the gizmo with the mouse to move, rotate, and resize pieces. For more information, refer to 2D Window Gizmo.

  • Zooming is contextual, so the focus of the zoom depends on where your cursor is.

Trackpad

  • Zoom in/out - two finger scroll up or down, or two finger pinch.

  • Move all pieces - hold down the spacebar and left click and drag the background.

2D Window Toolbar

You can use the 2D window toolbar to change the display and navigate, as detailed in the following table.

Click to hide the toolbar. To display the toolbar, click

Note: If you have hidden the toolbar, you can also display it by going to the Main menu and clicking View, then Show 2D Toolbar.

Toggle to display or hide textures.

stitches-on.png

Toggle to display or hide stitches.

nest-on.png

Toggle to display or hide grading for pieces.

allowance-on.png

Toggle to display or hide seam allowances.

internal-on.png

Toggle to display or hide internal lines.

trace-on.png

Toggle to display or hide changes to pieces. Changes are shown only from the point you toggle this option on.

Added a button to allow toggling to show or hide all pattern edge length measurements.

Toggle to display or hide the name of pieces. If this option is off, the system ID of pieces still displays.

grainline-on.png

Toggle to display or hide the grain line.

Toggle to display or hide the background grid. You can configure the grid in Preferences.

Toggle to display or hide guideline rulers.

Configuring the 2D Window Display

In addition to using the 2D window toolbar options, you can further configure the 2D window display.

To configure the display:

Synchronizing the 2D Window Display

You can sync the 2D window so that it displays the pattern pieces in the same general layout as in arrange mode.

To sync with arrange mode:

  1. Ensure the 2D window is displayed.

  2. On the Main menu, click View, then Sync Layout. The available options are displayed.

  3. Click By Arrange Mode. The pattern pieces are displayed in the 2D window to conform with the same general layout in arrange mode.
